There are plenty of reviews here about the movie, so there is no sense in writing another.

This review is about the DVD. I will mutter you up front that this DVD looks like a screech copy off VHS. I have seen the VHS version about 2 times this year and when the title song comes on, the audio fades in and out. Not unpleasant, but you can definitely glimpse some age in it. The DVD is EXACTLY the same. The sound is of no higher quality.

There is no widescreen, objective a stout conceal with the same characterize quality as VHS. It’s not dismal, but if you are the type of person who buys DVDs for the respectable represent quality, you are definitely going to be dejected with this.

The movie itself is Obedient, I cherish it, but the DVD transfer from VHS isn’t the best.

As for bonus features, you regain bios for all of the actors. The effort is, the information included is the same as you can get on the internet movie database (imdb) as well as fan sites. If you have read a pretty amount on any of the actors and know their biography fairly well, this DVD offers nothing modern.

There are also some brief production notes about where and how this movie was done, and some quotes from the cast and crew.

Again, if you have done any research online and gone to any fan sites or even a space dedicated to John Hughes, you will score nothing novel here. No interviews, a diminutive slack the scenes, some background detail, but in the gigantic relate, not distinguished else.

Just a forewarning.

I bought the DVD because unlike VHS tapes, a DVD CD doesn’t wear out. But if you gaze the VHS version, then the DVD, the quality is the same. DVD is not any better.

So overall, Well-behaved movie, but not a expansive transfer. Aloof, if you are a fan, definitely add it to your collection, but if you win DVDs for the extras, you will be very disappointed with this.

If you graduated from high school in the 1980s and haven’t seen this film, you must have been locked in a cave.

John Hughes delivers the definitive nostalgic teen movie of the Generation X crowd. The cast made up the ’80s “brat pack” with Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall. It’s hard to gain while seeing this film that Ringwald and Hall were the only valid high school extinct performers… the others were in their mid to slow 20s during filming.

While novel teens may not net this as “sophisticated” as over-sexed comedies like “American Pie,” anyone can enjoy proper feelings, teen angst, self doubt and relationships with parents portrayed in this film.

A group of kids sitting for 8 hours in detention on a Saturday none of them will ever forget. While there is disagreeable language, it’s about the same race as what you can hear on “NYPD Blue” on TV. There is no nudity or sex, unbiased raw, in your face teen angst.

You peek this group of “losers,” warts and all, and become friends with all of them before the film is over. The DVD doesn’t offer anything other than cast bios and subtitles… which is a disappointment. It would have been colossal to have had some interviews with the cast and leisurely the scenes footage. Nonetheless, DVD is remarkable better than tape and definitely worth the extra $ for a non volitile format.

The Darfur state of Sudan is an space the size of France with about six million people from a hundred tribes. The Sudanese government of president Omar al-Bashir has backed the Janjaweed militias to plunder, pillage, rape women of every age, and liquidate entire villages. According to the United Nations, 400,000 people have died, and over 2 million have been displaced (many refugees pouring into Chad) . This documentary takes you to Darfur and introduces you to people who experienced these atrocities; but the film is really about six very different people and what they are doing to discontinuance the genocide — Argentinian Luis Moreno, prosecutor for the International Criminal Court in the Hague; American Adam Wonderful, co-founder of the Sudan Divestment Task Force; Chief Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Abakar of the Hamadea Displaced Persons Camp; actor Don Cheadle; World Food Program officer Pablo Recalde; and Hejewa Adam, a woman rebel of the Sudanese Liberation Movement. “Our problems have no limits,” said one Darfurian.

Effectively educational without being sentimental or sensational, this film tells the yarn of current genocide and the western cultural denial of it. Kudos to Cheadle for being a assert for those whose epic would otherwise quiet not have been told.

With tongue planted so firmly in cheek as to be in disaster of serious injury, Barry Sonnenfeld space out to surpass his possess 5 year broken-down triumph with Men in Dim II. He didn’t quite distinct the ticket station by MiB, but he came grand closer than I ever idea he could.

Clearly, the goal of the MiB2 cast and crew was to expand the best elements of the first movie and lose those bits which didn’t work so well. They had a substantial view and implemented it well, but I believe that they may have gone unbiased a tad too far in paring the memoir and script down. MiB2 is a mountainous coast, from the first frame to the last, and rarely have I seen 90 minutes go by so posthaste. A cramped too speedy, as it turned out.

This flick is even more densely packed with one-liners, comic humor, visual puns and delightfully cynical satire than the first. It opens with a segment from a no-budget TV series on unusual and unexplained phenomena (hosted by Peter Graves, of course) describing how the Earth narrowly escaped destruction in 1978 when we were caught between Serleena, a remarkable and unpleasant alien, and the object of her desire, a mysterious force known as the Light of Zartha. At that considerable juncture 25 years ago, a super-secret government agency (which licenses and polices alien activity on Earth) kept us out of the line of fire by refusing the Zarthans’ inquire of to mask the Light on Earth.

Cut to the exhibit day and Serleena’s aid. Naturally. She’s mild looking for the Light of Zartha and she’s severely POed that she hasn’t found it yet. Arriving on Earth undetected, her first dilemma is the same faced by the galactic cockroach in MiB: gain a disguise that will pass among the primitve humans. As a shape shifting nest of snake-like apendages, though, she had an easier time of it than the 20 foot Bug. Almost immediately, she comes accros a magazine commence to a fleshy page Victoria’s Secret ad and before you can say “designate modern Edgar suit”, she’s taken the build of Lara Flynn Boyle . . . in nothing more than Victoria’s best dismal lingerie. This is one risky alien.

Actually, Boyle does a profitable job of filling Vincent D’Onofrio’s shoes. She’s a smarter (if less dismal) villain than the Bug and before long has save J and K at a serious disadvantage by completely taking over MiB headquarters.

Ah yes, Jay and Kay. Let’s face it: the dependable key to the success of Men in Dusky was the hillarious juxtaposition of Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. Well, Kay is support and the chemistry has lost very slight zing in the 5 years it was on the shelf. it turns out that the erstwhile Agent K is the only human being who might possibly know how to collect the Light of Zartha. Unfortunatly, he’s collected got a 35 year gap in his memory and is working as the Postmaster of a dinky town in Maine. Zed dispatches J to bring him relieve and score him de-neuralized, post haste.

I won’t give away any more of the station than this; it’s thin enough as it stands and I wouldn’t want to spoil what few surprises there are. Fortunatly, the movie isn’t really about the area, now is it? it’s about the gags, the special effects and watching Smith and Jones have *way* too noteworthy fun. Several other characters from the first flick also return, including Tony Shalhoub as the occaisionaly headless pawnbroker Jeebs, the four ungrateful worm guys and the wisecracking, karaoke singing pug, Frank.

Go examine it, it’s a hoot. The humor is a bit more juvenile than in the first movie, perhaps, but it really doesn’t suffer remarkable for all of that.

I really enjoyed Men in Gloomy. I conception the relationship between J & K (Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones) was incredible. Tommy plays a amazing straight man to Smith’s zaniness.

I went to scrutinize Men in Sad II last week, and I found that it fit like a thoroughly passe, but quiet kind of comfortable glove. It’s nowhere advance as honorable as the first one, and it suffers from recycling too many of the jokes as well. The talking dog returns in a grand more prominent role, the worms are support as well and have more to do. While comic (listening to the dog mumble Gloria Gaynor is hilarious), ultimately they don’t work as well in expanded roles. It feels almost like running the joke into the ground. A remarkable more successful return is the ever-wonderful Tony Shalhoub as Jeebs. He’s in for one scene, but he’s tranquil large.

Lara Flynn Boyle completely fails, in my concept, as Serleena. First, she doesn’t play menacing very well. Secondly, she doesn’t seem to handle the wry humour and the quips that a villain in a represent like this requires. She comes across as very flat. Thankfully, Rip Torn is astounding, and Jones and Smith go into their comfortable roles very easily. They really design the movie.

The film is very short (88 minutes), which also tends to construct it seem rushed. The characters jump from site to space without worthy reason. When reason is given, it’s usually very rapidly so as to go the situation along to the next situation section.

It was a comic film. No doubt about that. It was worth the [money] that I paid for it. Unbiased don’t go in expecting something as great as the first one.

I’m a fan of Project Runway and found I liked this runt documentary very toothsome. Seamless gives us a very loyal peek into a struggling fashion designers world, no 8 hour challenges, no making clothes from flowers; unprejudiced accurate people trying to secure their struggling business to become a thriving, money making business. The 3 featured designers/design partners had all different personalities and made me want to go research them more.

As a fan of Project Runway, I was thrilled to learn about Seamless, a documentary of the fashion world and young designers.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Seamless! Click Here

I truly enjoyed Seamless as it did relate the reality of the fashion world and struggles of the young designers to fabricate it. (Like Heidi Klum always say, “one day you’re in; the next day, you’re out”.) These designers are aware that fashion is highly competitive where many don’t obtain it or experience short-lived success before folding. Those that are level-headed existing and struggling, especially after 9/11, are in dire need of finances or mentorship. This is where Vogue, celebrated fashion designers and other “head honchos” approach in to back out, via competition.

I do wish that the documentary was longer by following the other designers or by covering more aspects of fashion designing, production, etc. I liked how the documentary followed their personal lives, which made them like regular people… Doo-Ri and the fire, Alexandre and his transcontinental separation from his wife, and Lazaro and Jack’s adjustment to one’s relocation.

Overall, I truly enjoyed Seamless as it was educational yet inspiring.

First off ignore the reviews from peeps who read a product listing with no clue of the real product. The dvd comes with English dub and japanese audio, along with subs. If you read between the lines the product description does say dubbed. I am obvious Amazon will fix the error in the audio piece when enough of you complain. As far as the dvd what can I say its Naruto, so it totally rocks. I like English dub, my daughter likes to witness the Japanese with subs so we are both jubilant with this release. And yes I gotta cherish the fact we gather fresh release’s early due to family that work in the factual places, so appreciate this one when the rest of you pick up the chance. It totally ROCKS!

I rated this a 3 because the listing says that the movie is in Japanese language with English subtitles, but the coming soon was in English. Is the listing nefarious and it is in both Japanese and English language? Someone please let me know. Or Amazon please update the listing to gain it obvious. Thanks.

I love Anne of Green Gables. I’ve read every book written by L.M. Montgomery, practically every book about L.M. Montgomery and I’ve seen a number of adaptations of Anne in various forms from plays to movies. This movie has nothing to do with Anne of Green Gables or L.M. Montgomery. When are the producers going to stop trying to shoehorn their own ideas for characters and plot into the Green Gables name. This isn’t a horrible movie but it isn’t Anne of Green Gables. Anne is an orphan that is at the very foundation of who she is as a character. Anne Shirley develops her imagination to deal with the often harsh conditions she has had to endure and she learns to thrive when she is placed in a loving environment. This movie dismisses all of that and creates something that is contrary to the spirit of Anne of Green Gables. A note to the producers, I’m not sure if you know this but L.M. Montgomery wrote a total of 8 books related directly to Anne and they were all successes and beautifully written books with endearing characters and sharp, heart felt plots, you should have used her works to create your films. You certainly didn’t improve upon them. Rachel Lynde would definitely not approve.

I gave this a chance, and by that I mean I watched it before writing this review. For the record, I loved the first two Sullivan Anne adaptations. The first installment was truly magical and I return to it frequently; the beginning strain of music is always enough to make me smile. The second installment (The Sequel) wasn’t quite as true to the books given the challenging task of condensing “Anne of Avonlea”, “Anne of the Islands” and “Anne of Windy Poplars” into one film (the last a charming but largely uneventful series of letters from Anne to Gil in the three years between their engagement and marriage), but I consider it a worthy adaptation in that it retains the mood, magic, and characterizations of the first film and source material (though I did miss seeing Anne and Gil in college, the ensuing drama with Roy and Christine, Patty’s Place, and all the additional very memorable characters). To be fair, it would have to be a television series to remain entirely true to the books.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Anne of Green Gables - A New Beginning! Click Here

With regard to this fourth installment…first of all, whose bright idea was it to kill off Gilbert Blythe?! That’s just WRONG. That being said, there’s nothing particularly awful about this film (great scenery, solid acting), though the story is convoluted and jumps around a bit much for my taste…so long as you can get over the glaring omission of the title character herself. I don’t blame Sullivan for wanting to return to magical Avonlea, but he really should’ve changed the names and called the film something else entirely. Even “The Continuing Story” (Part 3) was tolerable and that was only because Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie returned as Anne and Gil (their reunion scene in war-torn Europe was nearly enough to make me forgive the film’s deviation from the books). If they wanted to continue the thread from Part 3, they would’ve been better off with a loose adaptation of “Rilla of Ingleside”, the final book of the Anne stories which focuses on her children.

My single biggest problem with this story is that it re-writes history: Anne Shirley is an ORPHAN, it’s a fact that shapes her indelibly. Her parents died of fever when she was a baby and she later revisits their old home (in Anne of the Islands). Anne has no memory of her parents though she loves them dearly and subsequently names two of her children after them (Walther Cuthbert and Bertha Marilla Blythe if memory serves). She does not, as this film suggests, make up the story that she is an orphan (Walter Shirley did not indirectly kill his wife in a wagon accident and become a guilt-ridden absentee father). Anne was imaginative, yes, but she was not a liar. It’s also out of character and very difficult to believe that Marilla Cuthbert would ever hide Walter Shirley’s letters from Anne. As it is, this installment is Anne fan fiction minus Anne and minus the magic. Perhaps someone with lesser attachment to L.M. Montgomery’s Anne Shirley Blythe can appreciate “A New Beginning”. Unfortunately, I could not.

Thus reasoned young bushwhacker Jake Roedel, (Tobey Maguire) summing up the condition of his native Missouri, torn apart by savage guerilla warfare, as neighbor fought and killed neighbor during the Civil War. This outstanding movie manages to take much the same attitude as it tells the tale of this troubling period that has usually been handled in a much more partisan manner.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Ride with the Devil! Click Here

The Civil War in Missouri was particularly terrible, as the loyalties and interests of the population split between the Union and the Confederacy. Few regular troops were committed to Missouri, and most of the fighting was done by roving gangs of Irregulars; Secessionist Bushwhackers and Unionist Jayhawkers. These men more often made war on those who once had been their neighbors and friends than on uniformed troops, and terrible atrocities that were more murder than war were committed by each side.

`Ride with the Devil’ is an incredibly thoughtful and nuanced telling of this sad story. All of the protagonists are bushwhackers, but the movie does not attempt to paint them as pure heroes fighting against evil for all that is good and right. Instead, it manages to show them as young men who had the misfortune to be caught up in the sweep of history and forced into a violent life by unavoidable circumstances. We see the struggle some of them had between the violent actions that had become their life and their own sense of decency, and we see others enthusiastically revel in the murderous mayhem - glad for the excuse the war had given them to be free of the constraints of civilized society. One scene in particular drives home the fact that these warriors were more boys than men. Jake (Maguire) faces his new bride, a young women already widowed by the war (Jewel) in the bedroom on their wedding night. When she asks him if he is a virgin, he blusters that “I’ve seen plenty” and when ask again if he has been with a woman, he seems frozen with terror, and only manages to say, “Girl, I’ve killed fifteen men.” These were boys forced to become killers before many had the chance to be lovers.

Though there were no Unionist protagonists in this film, it used an effective device to put across the humanity of the bushwhacker’s enemies. A captured mailbag was plundered, and letters were read aloud as the bushwhacker’s searched for enemy secrets. The letters turned out to be mundane messages from mothers to sons and brother to brother. The young men heard and acknowledge how like their own mothers and brothers these people sounded, and how in other circumstances they might find them fine people, before someone reminded them that the sons of that mother would kill them, given the chance.

`Ride with the Devil’ is filmed beautifully, and is as close to being cinematically perfect as could be desired. Its scenes of violence are quick, realistic, and brutal, but the film does not dwell on them. Indeed, there are long sequences that deal with nothing but the complex interpersonal relationships of the characters, and action war movie junkies are likely to find `Ride with the Devil’ a disappointment despite its realism. Tobey Maguire is perfectly cast as a shy, decent young man trying to maintain his integrity in a violent life, and Jeffery Wright is outstanding as a freed slave who fights for the bushwhackers out of loyalty to his friend who freed him. All of the roles are well cast and acted, including Jewel in her film debut as a young Confederate widow.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Ride with the Devil! Click Here

`Ride with the Devil’ is the best done of any Civil War film that I have yet seen. It is beautifully filmed, skillfully acted, intelligently written, and tells its story with fairness and perspective. Unfortunately, its virtues are exceeded by its obscurity, as so many have never heard of it. Now that you know of it, don’t cheat yourself by missing this outstanding film.

Theo Logos

This is one of those rare movies where everybody got it right —from the cinematography to the casting; from the musical score to film editing; from costume design to second unit directing this movie is nearly flawless. The directing by Ang Lee (Sense and Sensibility) and the performance by a wonderful ensemble cast put this movie in a league with the great modern frontier movies like The Outlaw Josey Wales and The Long Riders.

Set on the Missouri/Kansas border during the American Civil War, the movie faithfully recreates the story told by Daniel Woodrell in his wonderful novel, Woe To Live On. The book is worth reading for the dialogue alone and the movie is worth watching simply for James Schamus’ magnificent screenplay: But there is much move to love about this movie.

The tapestry upon which the story of Ride With The Devil is painted is a violent one but, apart from some very graphic scenes, is more about human nature than anything else. Indeed, the depth of the violence only adds to the poignancy of the surprisingly frequent gentle scenes that occur in the movie. Tobey Macguire is perfect in the lead role, Jewel gives a surprisingly intuitive performance, and Jefrey Wright almost steals the show with his low-key, but passionate performance as a freed slave riding with a gang of white bushwhackers. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Macguire’s nemesis, has a small part but is death himself. (His final confrontation with Macguire is brief and chilling — and encapsulates the entire sense and sensibility of the movie.)

Sadly, this movie will probably go unnoticed by the general public since it seems to have had a limited release in the US and gone almost immediately from the theater to the rental market. Hopefully word-of-mouth will build interest in this truly remarkable American classic. Watch it — but read the book too.

4. Things get freaky

Me being a Bruce Dickinson fan to the max, I decided to rent this film after being excited about it finally being released here. Originally released in the UK as “Chemical Wedding”, The film is about Professor Haddo, a bumbling teacher who offers himself for a transformation experiment and soon becomes possessed by Aleister Crowley, which soon turns the school (and the town) upside down.

This film is a pretty cool movie, but incredibly flawed one. It was Co-written by Bruce Dickinson and directed by Julian Doyle, and stars Simon Callow as Haddo, turning in his best performance. We also get a brief glimpse into Crowley before his death (played by John Shrapnel), and a cameo by Brucey himself (as the guy with thick rimmed glasses at the beginning).

There are lots of flaws though. The film feels really rushed, I wanted to sort of know more about Crowley’s life in general. There’s a bit too much sex in this film- I know Crowley believed in sexual magic, but did we really need that sweaty orgy scene? They could have implied it instead of making it like 8 minutes long. And I’ll admit the effects were a bit cheesy, but then again this IS a low budget movie.

Anyways, this film is worth it for the finale alone despite the cheesy special effects. This is a pretty good movie, but be aware… this is definitely not for everyone.

I first became aware of Aleister Crowley through press reports that Jimmy Page of led Zeppelin, had been studying the occultist. A period of reading the books of Dennis Wheatley brought a greater awareness of the occult where Crowley’s name was frequently mentioned.

This film begins with the impending death of the man whilst being visited by two students from Cambridge University (UK). Just before he dies he curses one of the students and inflicts serious injury to him. Sixty years on, at Cambridge there is a conjunction between scientific experiments in a virtual world and the continuing tradition of the occult within the confines of the University. During that conjunction, one of the dons becomes possessed by the spirit of Crowley and graduall transforms into him

The transformation presages a series of events which appear to have been predestined by Crowley and his followers many years before. The purpose of the events gradually unfolds, as they tend to do in these matters, into the return of the fallen angel.

Simon Callow, the RSC actor excels in his portrayal of the restored Crowley. His energies reflect the larger than life personality of the occultist and the notorious acts for which he was infamous during his lifetime. This is a film of graphic sexuality and bodily functions. Although there is nudity and depictions of orgies and other sexual acts, they are not exhibited except in their role as part of the magickal power. The acts are more of the means by which spells are enacted, a transference of the power of the body into other powerful forms.

Many people will find this film objectionable for a variety of reasons, the subject of the occult or satanic worship, the sexual nature and use of profanities, the rejection of christian sensibilities or for many other reasons. Nevertheless it is a powerful depiction of the life of Crowley itself. Ultimately, in the final scenes of the film, very reminiscent of the previous fim, The Devil Rides Out, the world is restored to order.

Given the difficult subject matter, I think that this film has done a first rate job in enlightening the life and works of Aleister Crowley and is to be commended for it.

There are two superb film adaptations of this Dickens classic; this one and the 1984 TV film starring George C. Scott. Both do justice to the original novella far beyond any other dramatizations. However, it is this 1951 British version that got there first and no doubt inspired the 1984 remake. Both Alastair Sim and Scott breath life into the character of Scrooge and make him a three-dimensional personality whose life and fate take on far greater meaning than they do in the hands of other actors who have taken on this role. Sim, of course, became the definitive Scrooge by first taking the character seriously and by portraying Scrooge as more than a simplistic cardboard cutout. For those of us who were raised on this version of the film, Sim will always “be” Scrooge. That does not detract from Scott’s performance at all and he was quoted as saying he knew from the start that he could never hope to match Sim’s effort. Nonetheless, he succeeded in carving out his own highly credible, compelling portrait of Scrooge which stands beside that of Sim’s, like two magnificent paintings sharing the same wall. Both films should be enjoyed and appreciated as the fine, individual achievements that they are and both will stand as “definitive” for a very, very long time. We are the richer for having such a marvelous choice.

Somehow, across the years, the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his three ghosts has been transformed from it’s spooky roots to light-hearted family fare. Scrooge is not so much evil, as grumpy. The ghost’s tend to amuse rather than frighten.

This black-and-white version of “A Christmas Carol” maintains the horror roots of the story. Jacob Marley is one of the most frightening ghosts to haunt the silver screen. He grows intolerant of the idea that Scrooge is not frightened, and howls his rage and frustration. The Ghost of Christmas Past is an impersonal specter, cold and distant. Present is jolly and yet quick to anger. Future is the grim shade that he is supposed to be.

The back story of Scrooge is told in greater detail here than in any other version. He resents Fred, not because of his Christmas cheer but because his birth caused the death of Scrooge’s beloved sister. He not only remembers the good times at Fezzywig’s, he remembers putting Fezzywig out of business later in life. Alastair Sim brings this character to fullness more than any other actor. The Christmas morning scene is a delight, and worth the wait.

As a bonus, the Fleischer “Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer” is included on this disk. This is clearly Santa Claus by the people who gave us the first animated Superman. The animation is fluid and dynamic. One of the best extras on any DVD.

You have to realize two things to enjoy this movie.
PG-13 films are typically not for children. Parents seem to think just because its animated means “hey take the kids.” Well how about we think a little BEFORE we go running to the theatre? Complains about that are just unfounded. The rating says it all, PAY ATTENTION.

The second thing you must realize is that this is an ADAM SANDLER movie, like his earlier films. Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, all crude and rude, get over it. That was his style and he brought it back to make one of the funniest adult animated movies ever. The jokes here are classic, from whiteys seizures to him doing the robot in the middle of a basketball game. His sister eleanor has the cutest voice which I’ve been imitating ever since I saw the movie. The townsfolk are a scream, with rob schneider as an asian waiter. and jon lovitz as a man with a hook for a hand. This is a very unconventional Hannukah movie for the holidays. Sure it’s gross, but if your offended than go rent the Ya Ya Sisterhood or some crap like that. This one is for the guys, not for parents or children. Next time read the rating before you complain. Don’t believe all the crap, this movie was HILARIOUS. If you like Kevin Smith movies or Adam sandler movies than see this and bust a gut laughing. (hopefully not literally)

I really enjoyed this movie. Unlike The Wedding Singer, the humor was a bit more locker room gross-out, but like the Wedding Singer, it was filled with sentiment and heart. An angry Scrooge-like Jewish man learns to grieve, let go, and love the holidays again. No, it’s not for small kids. That’s why it’s rated PG-13. Sandler shows tremendous talent and versatility as the voices of Davy, Eleanor and Whitey, the latter two being annoying elderly fraternal twins whom Davy grows to love despite their freakishness. Rob Schneider, Jon Lovitz, Kevin Nieland add their talent, as well as cameos by Tyra Banks and rock singer Ann Wilson as Davy’s mom. Alison Krauss lends her sweetness as the singing voice of Jennifer, Davy’s childhood love, now a single mom. The music is the most outstanding part of this film. The lyrics are silly and goofy, but also clever, and the song structures are dynamic and hooky, and will stay with you afterward. If you go into this movie realizing it’s not a white-washed Disney flick for the kids, but it’s a funny, sometimes gross, but sensitive Christmas story that tackles somewhat-adult issues, like why some people hate the holidays, I think you’ll enjoy it almost as much as I did. It’s also loaded with special features that are worthwhile, too.
